Europe in a state of upheaval, the iron curtain belongs to the past, borders loose their importance and the schengen zone grows. the demarcation line that has been an insurmountable barrier for a long time has left a rather unreal void behind. The border separating europe in east and west has shaped europe's recent history with great impact.
The death zone has divided interests, the countries behind were heading into diverse directions. Today, what has long time been the edge should turn into a center piece. (l)ost links researches and documents the current situation of the former death zone in an individual way.  This was made possible thanks to schengen shifting to the east since 2008 leaving empty spots on the map. those are now accessible for border researchers.
