In the wake of modernization measures, a former landfill and sports stadium will be transformed into a public park for sports and recreation. The rearrangement of the park's entrance creates a barrier-free connection to the historic city center via the grandstand structure. The area is given an entirely new potential through intelligent mass management of the partly contaminated soil.
The Floschenstadion Sindelfingen will be transformed into a public athletic park in the course of the necessary modernization. As the location of a former landfill, the restoration of the grass playing field and type B track will involve dealing with difficult soil conditions. Thereby, the aim is to reuse excavated material for the stadium topography by means of an intelligent mass management. The project enables a barrier-free connection to and from the existing grandstands and includes the construction of a new bridge which doubles as a marathon finish line. The barrier-free circuit is also expanded to include new connections to the locker rooms, training facilities, and work shops. The key element of the overall project is the renovation and new construction of the entrances (plazas) and the seamless integration of the stadium into the urban fabric as a public park for the adjacent city center. The redesign increases and enhances the training opportunities for both the participating stadium clubs and the local neighborhood.
