The aim of the design - optimized in its climate effectiveness by integrated climate simulations - is to help the city centre of Nuremberg to achieve a temperature advantage of 4°C over the currently forecast developments on hot summer days with a compact package of measures within the State Garden Show (Landesgartenschau) in the course of a new multiple use of the city moat. The moat will become a climate ring: it will collect and treat rainwater, including the surrounding traffic areas, and its green volume will ensure increased evapotranspiration.
